ViTAL Economy (VE) has been conducting readiness assessments (RA) of economic regions for more than 15 years. We developed the RA process to make sure that economic regions were:
- Ready to undertake and commit to a collaborative, grass-roots, asset-based CED initiative
- Ready and able to handle the transformative results of a VE Journey
The RA involves the following:
- A multi-faceted assessment of a region’s economic history and current conditions
- Interviews with as many as several hundred business, public sector, labor union, community, and not-for-profit leaders living and working in the region
- A comprehensive survey of existing studies of the region from the past five years
- Highlights of global, national and regional trends critical to the region’s economic future
- Quantitative and qualitative assessments of regional challenges and opportunities
